Austria’s climate is continental, with its eastern border stretching into the Pannonian climate zone. More than half of the country is made up of the Alps, with hot, sunny summers reaching 20°C(68°F)-27°C(81°F), sometimes reaching a high of 35°C(95°F) in August. Winter runs from October to April, and temperatures can drop below 0 degrees. The alpine climate of the Alps is characterised by average annual temperatures below 0°C(32°F) and can drop below -20°C(-4°F) in winter.
Vienna’s typical climate is characterised by mild summers and chilly winters, combined with rather mild and cosy Mediterranean temperatures in autumn and spring.

8. Etiquette & Service Tip

Say hello to people getting on and off hotel elevators. Say thank you for any service, no matter how small. When using the toilet, use HERREN for men and DAMEN for women. Keep your hands on the table during meals.
Spitting, burping, or swallowing runny nose in public is impolite and should be avoided.
Loud noises and calling out to people are also impolite.

Tip
It is customary to tip when served in a hotel, restaurant, or coffee shop. Since tip is not included in the receipt amount, add 5-10% as appropriate.
