4. Safety

Lithuania is a stable society, with few threats such as violent crime. However, there are a few things tourists should be aware of while traveling, especially pickpockets in crowded areas such as downtown Vilnius and around train stations.

5. Climate

With a temperate continental climate, winter is from mid-October to early May, with average winter temperatures ranging from -2°C (28°F) to -3°C (27°F) lows and average highs of around 1°C (34°F) or less. July and August are the warmest months, with an average high of 70°F (21°C) and an average low of 55°F (13°C). Average daily temperatures in June and September range from 14°C (57°F) to 17°C (63°F). June is a rainy month, followed by a dry summer in July and August.

8. Etiquette & Service Tip

If you are dining with locals, it is rude to refuse food more than once. In Lithuania, even numbers are believed to be for the dead, so when buying flowers, always buy odd numbers. It is also believed that shaking hands across a threshold is bad luck.
Tipping
Tipping culture is not compulsory, but it is customary to leave a tip of around 10% if the service was satisfactory. It is impolite to leave a tip in coins when leaving.
