3-2 Intercity bus
Operates throughout Norway, both within the city and between regions – there are also late-night buses. Regional buses, including Norwegian Boothexpress and Netbooth, and Swabus long-distance and night routes all depart from Gallerian Oslo Bus Station.

3-3 Ferries
You can enter Norway by long-distance ferry from Copenhagen and Frederikshavn in Denmark and Kiel in northern Germany.
3-4 City transport
Oslo’s city centre is very walkable, with most of the city’s attractions located in the centre. Further afield, the Bjergjørg district, Munch Museum and Vigeland Park can be reached by bus, tram Trikk, metro T-bane and ferry.

If you’re travelling for more than two days, it’s a good idea to buy a Reisekort transport card at the city’s transport information centre or Narvesen convenience store and top it up. The card itself is free.

7. Travel precautions
The water is so clean you can drink it straight from the tap.
There is a charge (10 NOK) for toilets at the train station, and there is a changing table in the men’s room, which is great for dads to change nappies.
Tax refund: VAT refund (approx. 13-18%) is available on purchases of at least 315 NOK (320 NOK for food) on the same day in a single shop. Norway is a non-EU country. Be sure to get your refund when travelling to other countries.
8. Etiquette & Service Tip
Norwegians greet others with a smile. This is a friendly way of greeting and you are expected to respond warmly.
There is a strict physical distance between people. Do not stand together in public places such as bus stops. Be sure to take your rubbish with you when outdoors.
Tipping
Tipping is not expected, but if you receive good service in a restaurant or café, it is customary to leave a 10% tip.
