It is customary for men to shake hands when they meet. In Poland, when men and women meet, it is polite to wait for the woman to offer a handshake. If a man asks for a handshake first, it is considered rude by the woman.
Polish men may lightly kiss the back of a woman’s hand to show their respect for her. Don’t be embarrassed if this happens, just relax your grip and keep your hand at about the level of the other person’s chest.
Men should always give way to women when entering or leaving a building. When meeting for the first time, it is customary for the person entering the room to greet the other person first, regardless of status or age.
Tip.
Tipping is not obligatory, but if you have received impressive service and wish to leave a tip, it is usually around 10 per cent of the bill.
